Achievements: #34 “Unplug” yourself for a day
Unplug For a day
In May 9th, 2015 I
treated myself for a day without using any IT devices. It was a little intimidating before I started
because, I spent most of my life using IT devices. So, spending a whole day was a scary idea but
I managed. The day before I started unplugging I made a list in the things I
will do during unplugging. It included things like sleeping, cleaning the
house, drawing and working out.
Firstly I woke up late like
around 11 but without an alarm because, I hid my phone and all my IT devices
the night before. So, I had a good night sleep and I had a delicious breakfast
the next morning. Thing until now was pretty good but I definitely felt tempted
to reach out to my phone. I pulled myself together and did some cleaning around
the house and organized my closet by this time it was around 2 afternoons. As
time goes by I felt stronger and I did not care about my phone. During lunch I asked my family to turn off
the TV because, I was committed to do this unplug achievement. After lunch I
sat with my grandmother and chatted with her then, I took a nap and woke up
around 4:30. After I woke up I had no idea what will I do so, I babysit my baby
brother we played until he slept. Then I went to my room to workout and I went
out for a walk with my brother. When we reached I prepared a light snack for
us. He kept me company until our mom came home so, I went to the kitchen with
her and helped with dinner. After dinner I was out of ideas on how to keep
myself busy so, I grabbed a bunch of blank papers and colors and started
drawing. Around 10 or 11 at night I went to bed and I was lying down and kept talking to my sister. Finally, it was
after 12 after midnight. I completed a whole day unplugging so; I grabbed my
phone set the alarm and went to bed. I did not even check who called and all
that. The next morning recalling what I did and not using any IT devices it felt
very refreshing I did not feel that I’m attached to my phone or any device.
